The Runaway Pumpkin Half Marathon & 8K (RPHM8K) is a non-profit event organized by ABC House staff and volunteers. 100% of the race proceeds are donated to ABC House, a local non-profit organization that assists abused and neglected children in Benton and Linn Counties.
Over the years, RPHM has attracted very serious runners who compete for personal best times and also folks who just want to run for a cause and have a lot of fun along the way. We welcome everyone–at any running or walking level–to our benefit race. The race is professionally timed by Rogue Multi-Sport; an independent race timing specialist.
The Half Marathon course is strikingly beautiful. Running along country roads, farm fields, and the beautiful Santiam River, the course will surely be one of the greatest takeaways from your Runaway Pumpkin Half Marathon experience. Every year, runners and walkers tell us this well-run race is the highlight of their yearly half marathon quests.
Plenty of water stations and portable toilets along the way make sure that participants stay hydrated and comfortable for the duration of the race. At race’s end, we offer lots of healthy food choices and even a beer garden serving local beer. Participants over 21 years of age receive a coupon for one free beer (remember to bring your i.d. to secure entry into the beer garden).
Past participants treasure our uber-cool finishers’ medals. The medals are always unique and of high quality. No paper finishers’ medals in this race! Besides the medals, Half Marathon runners and walkers each receive a goodie bag full of all kinds of useful items and coupons.
