The Runaway Pumpkin Half Marathon & 8K (RPHM8K) is a non-profit event organized by ABC House staff and volunteers. 100% of the race proceeds are donated to ABC House, a local non-profit organization that assists abused and neglected children in Benton and Linn Counties.
2016 is the first year that we have offered the 8K as part of our Runaway Pumpkin race experience. Over the last five years of running the race, so many individuals reached out to us to ask us to add a shorter race that we felt this was the right year, with the right volunteers. We wanted to make sure the 8K experience was as stellar as our Half Marathon has been for our participating runners and walkers.
While the 8K race is shorter than the Half Marathon, the course also takes advantage of the beautiful Lebanon, Oregon countryside. You’ll pass farm fields, part of the Santiam River, and wind through rural town America. You can even see the Half Marathoners across the river!
Water stations and portable toilets along the way make sure that participants stay hydrated and comfortable for the duration of the race. At race’s end, there are lots of healthy food choices and even beer garden serving local beer. Participants over 21 years of age receive a coupon for one free beer (remember to bring your i.d. to secure entry into the beer garden).
You’ll also receive a colorful tech t-shirt and a bag to store giveaways from our top-notch race vendors.
